Celestino Romero Youth Conservation Camp introduces Taos County youth to conservation issues through two-days of hands-on activities. This camp is named in honor of Celestino Romero, teacher and principal in Questa, Ojo Caliente and Taos, elder for the First Presbyterian Church in Taos, Camp Manager of the Loma Verde Camp, and Taos Soil and Water Conservation District Board Member for 28 years.
Santa Fe Presbytery Youth Mission Group was composed of teens from the following six churches: First Presbyterian Church (Santa Fe), First Presbyterian Church (Farmington), La Mesa (Albuquerque), First Presbyterian Church (Albuquerque), St. Andrew Presbyterian Church (Albuquerque), and Shepherd of the Valley (Albuquerque).
This mid- and high-school group helped Loma Verde Camp clear brush and trees to create a defensible space around camp buildings. They also did some repairs and painting to help get the camp ready for the 2018 season. Great group of teens! Can't thank you enough!!! The group photo was taken at the Taos Pueblo.
